BRAINTREE, MASS. (February 14, 2019) – Valentine’s Day is a celebration of the heart, but February has become the month to celebrate the health of this most vital organ. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for people in the United States, with one in four deaths attributed to heart disease every year.
In celebration of Heart Health Month, Liberty Bay Credit Union members and employees are making donations in exchange for a heart pin that signifies their show of support for this worthy cause. Each five dollar donation, which can be made in any LBCU branch, will help the American Heart Association raise awareness about heart disease and how people can prevent it.
Liberty Bay Credit Union’s Community Matters team, who dedicates tireless hours to improve the lives of the constituents in surrounding communities, was the driving force behind this effort. Charlette Robichaud of LBCU’s Community Matters team said, “Heart health is important to everybody, we all know someone who has been affected by heart disease in some way. Personally, I lost my grandmother to Chronic Heart Failure. By holding this fundraiser, we hope to call attention to this important cause. I hope that one day heart disease is no longer as prevalent as it is today.”
