How It Works

Step 1. Schedule Your Home Energy Assessment

Contact Mass Save at (866) 527-7283 to determine if a Home Energy Assessment is required for your specific project and to learn about the next steps for your energy-saving changes. After you schedule an appointment, an energy efficiency expert will assess your home’s current energy and provide a custom list of recommended ways to make energy-saving changes in your home. During the visit, you will also receive a Home Loan Intake Form, Program Steps, and the Minimum Standards and Requirements. Schedule a Home Energy Assessment.

Step 2. Apply for Your Loan with Liberty Bay

After the Home Energy Assessment is complete, the next step is to contact Liberty Bay for pre-approval. From here you can decide what changes to implement and develop your own custom energy plan.

Qualified Improvements

Your specific qualified upgrades are identified during the Home Energy Assessment performed by an authorized Mass Save^® vendor.

• Attic, Wall, and Basement Insulation
• Weatherization (Must be in conjunction with completed weatherization recommendations)

• Pre-weatherization barriers

• ENERGY STAR® certified replacement windows

• Residential batteries enrolled in Connected Solutions

• Heat pump projects

• Heat pump water heaters

• Energy Star Thermostats

How to Qualify

Mass Save HEAT Loans are available to customers of Cape Light Compact, Eversource, National Grid, Unitil Electric, and municipal electric customers served by Columbia Gas of Massachusetts or Liberty Utilities. Members must meet program eligibility requirements to participate:

• Own a one-to-four family residence
• Establish HEAT Loan eligibility with the Mass Save® Program (call to determine if a Home Energy Assessment is required for your project)  Home Energy Assessment
• Install qualified energy efficiency upgrades recommended by a Mass Save^® energy specialist
• Subject to credit approval
